How It Works

Efficiency Score: Measures ounces of pure alcohol per calorie, multiplied by 1000. A higher score means more alcohol per calorie consumed.

Calculated from ingredients: We compute the actual alcohol content by summing each ingredient's alcohol contribution (amount × ABV), then account for dilution from shaking, stirring, or blending.

Dilution matters: Shaken drinks gain ~1 oz of water, stirred drinks ~0.75 oz. This affects ABV but not total alcohol or calories—so a diluted drink has the same efficiency as its undiluted version.

Tips for efficiency: Spirit-forward cocktails (martinis, manhattans) tend to be more efficient than creamy or sweet cocktails. Avoid sugary liqueurs and syrups if you want to maximize your alcohol-to-calorie ratio.
